Since I've walked the journey as a breast cancer survivor and navigated the maze of treatment options, I know the fears and concerns that patients and loved one's experience. As a 41 year-old women diagnosed with agressive breast cancer, my treatment protocol included stereotactica biopsy, lumpectomy, aggressive 4-chemical chemotherapy, and 35 radiation sessions.
I have an emotional and physical understanding of patients' treatments. As a survivor/thriver, I can guide the patient - and family - through this physical and emotional journey. My understanding of the mind-body connection will be an asset early on in the cancer treatment to help the patient remain mentally stable and reduce anxiety and panic so treatment can work with less side effects.
I greatly benefited from, and strongly encourage my patients, to work with other holistic team members to help get through the treatment process. I have close ties with acupuncturists, massage therapists, and other professionals to ensure a whole-team approach.
I've had the opportunity to work with a number of Lyme Disease patients and have become intimately familiar with the challenges faced by those inflicted with all levels of severity of the disease. Working closely with one of Loudoun County's (Virginia) leading physicians on the disease, Dr Sarah Fletcher, I've experienced significant success improving the lives of Lyme Disease patients.
Chronic Mold Sensitivity/Toxicity
Mold releases compounds called mycotoxins which trigger inflammatory responses in the body. But not everyone has the same reaction to mycotoxins, and severity can vary drastically from person to person. Part of it is related to your immune tolerance – how fit your immune system is to either react or not react to environmental pathogens. The integrity of the lung barrier and genetic factors also play a role. The key idea is that everyone’s going to respond to mold differently and have different reactions – which also means certain people are uniquely susceptible. I have experienced this illness and understand the devastating effects it can have on your body. I have worked closely with Dr Werner Vosloo in St George, UT for both treatment and education and the opportunity to help others afflicted with this phenomenon.
